Mimi Tran: AW18 LFW Collection Showcase

This season, Mimi Trans’ new AW18 collection drew inspiration from the arctic breeze; entitled ‘Snowflake’ it couldn’t have been a more fitting name for it. The growth and development of the Mimi Trans brand is illustrated in the designer’s ability to capture the beauty of the female form in a captivating way each time she showcases her new work.

The brands intention is to empower the women of today by enhancing their beauty and femininity through luxury made pieces in modern designs and styles. In the words of the lady herself, ‘When you look good, you feel your best.’

Guests arrived and took their seats to a Beyoncé remix playing in the background – a fitting soundtrack to support the messages being sent out on female empowerment.

Founder and Creative Director Mimi Trans was born in Vietnam but eventually moved to the US during her teen years. Between 2013 – when she first released a collection in her name – and 2018, her style has gracefully evolved from alluring cocktail dresses to dramatic red-carpet style gowns and exquisite wedding dresses. Regardless of the theme, her designs empower femininity and overflowing with allure, modernity and glamour.

Although the overall feel was feminine and floral, there was a slight edge injected into many of the pieces, with black solid line contours across translucent bodycon dresses, one shoulder corset tops and embellishment two-pieces sets held together by a line of safety pins.

Each piece was embellished to the max with sequins, beading on form-fitting cocktail dresses in shades of turquoise, gold, magenta and beige.

As the music tempo slowed down, feathered bodysuits, floral beaded cocktail dresses and floor-length, ruby red dresses seamlessly transitioned into stunning, one-of-a-kind wedding gowns with layers of white tulle and silver beading which no doubt made for the perfect conclusion to a wonderful showcase.
